Douban Movie Dataset




Douban is one of the most popular social networks in China. Douban Movie provides the latest movie info, and users can record the movies they wish to watch and rate what they watched. Moreover, they can share the reviews to their friends. We crawled the ratings of the Douban Movie according to the naive 36 categories. Users in this dataset have social relationships. We have crawled nearly 50 thousand users’ circles of friends and their rated movies from December 2012 to March 2013. The processed dataset consists of more than 900K ratings from 2,965 users who rated a total of 39,695 movies.

There are three files, users, movies, and ratings:

· All ratings are contained in the file "ratings.txt" and are in the following format:
{UserID, MovieID, Rating}

· User information is in the file "users.txt" and is in the following format:
UserID:{Friend1ID,Friend2ID,...,}
for example: 7:{6,199,429,2003,}
It means that user 7 has four friends: user 6, user 199, user 429, and user 2003.
And to protect users' privacy, we reset users' and items' real ids.

· Item information is in the file "movies.txt" and is in the following format:
MovieID:{Categories}
For example: 2262:{动作,惊悚,战争,}
It means that Movie 2262 is belong to these categories: {动作,惊悚,战争,}.

Dataset Rights
 

The Douban Movie dataset consists of more than 900K ratings downloaded form www.douban.com website. Use of these data must respect the corresponding terms of use.
